Charges laid over Boxing Day hit and run

A teenager's been charged with the murder of a good Samaritan, killed in a hit and run in Broadbeach Waters in the early hours of Boxing Day.

50-year-old Darren Pullar died after getting struck and dragged along by a vehicle outside a unit complex on Rio Vista Boulevard.

It's believed he was trying to intervene following a violent home invasion at a neighbour's apartment.

Police have today charged a 17-year-old man from Varsity Lakes with one count each of murder and attempted burglary and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

He's due to face the Southport Magistrates Court this morning.
