Warehouse roof short-cut lands man in hospital

A man in his 30s has serious head and chest injuries after falling from the roof of a warehouse in Upper Coomera.

He apparently hit his head on the cement below, after tumbling 3-4 metres down an embankment on Friday morning.

Paramedics were called to a property on Melissa Street around 3:00, where they struggled to reach the patient.

"To get down to him [crews] had to climb down a steep embankment/retaining wall and then we required assistance from the Fire Service to extricate him back out to the waiting ambulance," said High Acuity Response Unit paramedic Jaye Newton.

The patient was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition, about an hour later after QAS arrived on the scene.

It's believed the man scaled the building, instead of taking the long way around

"Initial indications were that he tried to take a short-cut home when he came to the end of a cul-de-sac," said Mr Newton.
