Collingwood legend Tony Shaw has explained how he came to be the man charged with handing over the premiership cup to Nathan Buckley and Scott Pendlebury if the Pies win the grand final on Saturday.
Shaw popped in to the Hot Breakfast Grand Final Eve Eve function this morning and explained how it went down.
“I got a text (from Eddie McGuire), he said ‘ring me’ and I thought ‘uh oh, what have I done here?’,” Shaw said.
“I rang Ed and he said exactly that (that Shaw should present the cup).
“It’s a massive honour, pretty humbling really.”
Shaw also spoke about the best stories in the current Pies crop, his 1990 success and more.
