Essendon CEO Xavier Campbell has confirmed reports that the club has requested a home game against Carlton on the eve of the Good Friday public holiday.
Speaking to Jay-Z Clark and Joey Montagna on Dead Set Legends, Campbell said he believed the fixture could have similar to success to the Anzac Eve match between Melbourne and Richmond.
“It’s not a time-slot being used at the moment obviously,” Campbell said.
“You’ve seen the success of Anzac Eve with the public holiday following.”
“No matter where the two clubs are on the ladder, they (the fans) are absolutely behind it. We feel like we could really build an iconic match day.”
