Raider Goes Down With Serious Injury At Training

Canberra Raiders utility Kurt Baptiste has undergone surgery today on an Achilles injury sustained at training on Wednesday afternoon.

"Baptiste ruptured his left Achilles during a conditioning session at Raiders HQ, with Baptiste to be assessed post-surgery to get a better understanding on how long he will be on the sideline," read a club statement

"The 25 year old recently re-signed with the club for a further two seasons and was part of the Raiders 17 who made their way to the Preliminary final in 2016."

Baptiste was a handy back-up to first-choice hooker Josh Hodgson last season. He's a workhorse who can do a job for Ricky Stuart off the bench. He also filled in admirably for Hodgson when he was injured late last season.
